Meet the Wylde Winter Camp Educators

Marie GirardMarie is a Berry College graduate with a B.S. degree in biology who discovered her passion for teaching while working as a research assistant studying germination and seed viability and serving as a teaching assistant in Biology and Botany. At the Wylde Center, she brings her love of nature and teaching to after-school programs across Atlanta and Decatur, where she engages students through hands-on experiences in the garden. As one of the lead educators for community gardens at Oliver House and Amani Place, Marie combines her expertise in biology with her enthusiasm for outdoor learning to inspire children and adults alike to connect with the natural world. She enjoys being outside, exploring nature, and fostering curiosity in those she teaches, with the goal of encouraging a lifelong appreciation for the environment.

Elizabeth Goethe Elizabeth’s lifelong passion for the life sciences and the natural world shines through in her work as an Educator at the Wylde Center, where she inspires children to connect with the environment in meaningful ways. Though her academic background is in art, with a BFA from the University of Georgia, she discovered her love for environmental education while teaching at a local preschool. Since joining the Wylde Center team in 2022, this Atlanta native has focused on engaging young minds with hands-on experiences that foster curiosity and care for the natural world. Elizabeth believes that encouraging children and adults to explore and appreciate their environment can create happier communities and a healthier planet. In her free time, she volunteers as a wildlife rehabilitator at the AWARE Wildlife Center and enjoys outdoor adventures with her young daughter, husband, and their many pets.
