Pot Day

Wylde Center is trying to make it a little easier for gardeners to get those plastic nursery pots back into hands that want to use them as plastic nursery pots again by beginning to host regular Pot Return Days, the first of which is coming up this Sunday, November 6th, from 10am until 5pm.

We are working to lessen environmental impact by hosting a Nursery Pot Take-Back Day, and asking local gardeners to come and bring back nursery pots they received at Wylde Center or elsewhere to be sorted and primarily reused in the nursery, donated to other growers, offered back for free to interested Wylde Center visitors, or sorted and recycled through CHaRM, the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials.

We are offering a reward for bringing in clean and reusable nursery pots by giving away tickets redeemable for discounts on new plants from their plant sale fundraiser. For every ten large containers trade gallon or larger and every twenty small containers quart size or smaller they bring, recyclers will receive one ticket good for one dollar off the purchase price of a plant in the plant sale that day. If the pots people bring are already washed out, recyclers will receive a free organically grown cool weather veggie start of their choice.

There is no registration required to drop off pots. Volunteers will be needed to accept, count, sort, wash, and help put away pots and every volunteer can walk away with a free veggie start of their own. Those wishing to volunteer for the event can sign up through the Hands On Atlanta volunteer portal or may simply show up for any of three shifts starting at 9am, noon, or 3pm.
