Laying the Groundwork: Soil Health and Vermicomposting

The “Can You Dig It” Gardening Series teaches practical, sustainable gardening skills through hands-on activities and expert instruction. Hosted by Kia Jones, each class builds on the last, covering essential techniques for healthy, organic gardening. Each class stands on its own, take one or take them all! 

The first class in the series will cover soil health basics, including microorganisms, key nutrients, and crop rotation. Participants will learn to interpret soil test reports and use vermicomposting to create nutrient-rich compost. 

Hands-On Activities:

  • Examine and feed a working worm bin
  • Gather soil samples for testing

Come prepared to dig in and take home critical knowledge for your garden!
