More than 27 years ago, two incredible women recognized the need for the community to connect to nature and learn about the environment. They probably never imagined what the Oakhurst Community Garden Project would one day become.
As we head into the 28th year of this impactful organization, Wylde Center looks a little different: the name, the logo, the number of gardens, and of course that special building at the original Oakhurst Garden.
However, the root of who we are is still the same. We are a passionate group that cares deeply about conservation, gorgeous urban greenspaces, and providing opportunities to teach others about how they can contribute to essential sustainability practices.
We Need Your Support
As we look ahead to 2025 and the start of something new, fresh, exciting, and important, we are asking for your support. Please help us make this season of giving our strongest yet so that we can continue to add more educational programming and events that speak to the community.
Your donations will always go towards our gardens and programs as we strive always to be the best stewards with your generosity. Here are some examples of how your contributions make a difference:
$50 provides a school with 10 vegetables plants to be used in their gardens.
$100 supports tickets for 2 people to attend a Wylde Center gardening workshop.
$300 provides us with more pollinator-friendly plants to support local eco systems.
$1000 supports 3 students to attend a week-long spring or summer camp for free.
$1500 allows us to purchase a washer and dryer to launder student, volunteer, and staff gloves and hand towels.
Help Us Stock Our Shelves
Moving into our newly renovated building at the Oakhurst Garden also means we have a surge of needs in terms of supplies--everything from stocking the kitchen to standard office supplies, patio furniture to organizing systems.
If you prefer to gift us things that will help us open our doors quicker, we have made an Amazon Wishlist. Of course, we are open to gently used items or items from other sources. Simply reach out if you can offer something we might use!
