Since 1997, the Wylde Center has been dedicated to providing outstanding hands-on environmental education experiences for students throughout the Atlanta area. Our field trips bring students to one of our five greenspaces to explore the science of the natural world.

Our interactive classes are led by trained and enthusiastic environmental educators. As students encounter our gardens, streams, and woodlands, they learn to think critically, creatively, and responsibly about the world around them. All Programs Align with current grade level Georgia Standards of Excellence.

Sugar Creek Garden & Herb Farm - 415 East Lake Dr. Decatur, GA 30030

Situated in a floodplain, this site cannot be used for residential or commercial construction. Sugar Creek is meant to serve as a model for urban farming on unbuildable land. There are garden beds beds, community compost bins, pollinator gardens, herbs, a stream, beehives, and an outdoor classroom space.

We recommend this space as an alternative site to the Oakhurst Garden.

Hawk-Hollow-Sign (1)

Hawk Hollow Garden - 2304 1st Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30317

Hawk Hollow is a great spot to become an explorer. It is home to many birds, a family of turtles, frogs, and owls. Hawk Hollow is one of Atlanta's unique urban/wild interfaces. With its streamside location and its vital microecosystem, there are opportunities galore to explore how we can help native plants and animals thrive in these little habitat pockets. Our focus at this greenspace is invasive plant management and reintroduction of native plants and pollinators.
