Dig Deeper With Garden to Classroom
A WYLDE CENTER FARM TO SCHOOL PROGRAM
Looking for a way to get more out of your school garden? Eat what you grow? Or teach
your students about the basics of gardening or Farm to School principles? Bring in the
Wylde Center and our staff will work with you to:
Provide an opportunity for every student enrolled at the school to participate in the
Garden to Classroom field experience.
Provide technical garden assistance to staff, faculty, students, and volunteers for the school garden.
Support or lead culinary experiences using produce from the school gardens.
Support or lead F2S education in the classroom.
Support the work necessary to complete the system wide taste test.
Work collaboratively with school leadership, faculty, students, volunteers, and businesses to provide a full Garden to Classroom experience. Program will link to what the students are learning in the classroom.
A Day With Our Educator:
Depending on the season, kids will enjoy participating in a variety of tasks related to planting, harvesting, garden maintenance, cooking and educational activities.
Prior to a visit with our educator, your garden liaison will work with The Wylde Center to create a classroom schedule for who she will be working with.
During each visit, students will enjoy making new garden to classroom connections during lessons lead by our environmental educator.
Some classes will go on to complete garden tasks, others may cook, while still others receive a more in-depth educational exploration.
Rotating through this schedule, each class will have had the opportunity to participate in all aspects of garden to classroom activities.
