EARTH DAY PARTY AT THE GARDEN!
April 19, 2015 1-4pm

Why is Earth Day a Pirate’s favorite holiday?

The City of Decatur, in partnership with the Wylde Center, will be holding its annual Decatur Earth Day Festival (DEDF) on Sunday, April 19, 2015, 1-4 p.m. at the Oakhurst Garden at the corner of Oakview and South McDonough, Decatur. This FREE celebration of Earth Day is a fun and festive way for more than 400 members of the community to come together and participate in celebrating the 46th Anniversary of Earth Day at the city’s OFFICIAL EARTH DAY PARTY. Show your support and like our Facebook Page.  We have an exciting array of events planned for children, youth and adults and include, for example:

  • Costume Parade
  • FREE Arts & Crafts for Kids
  • Southeastern Reptile Rescue will be on site with a exhibit full of a variety of snakes.
  • LIVE Music
  • Announcement of our Special Earth Day T-shirt contest winner

Lots of Fun for the Kids
Kids will enjoy the Arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, and parade performers.

Earth Day T-shirt Contest!
Children in grades K-12 are welcome to submit a design. Designing for a T Shirt could be a classroom exercise or extracurricular fun for any interested artist. The grand prize entry will be on the 2014 Earth Day Celebration T-Shirt and all entries will be on display at the Decatur Library. The entry deadline is Tuesday, March 24, 5pm and the winners will be notified on April 1. All entries are due to the Wylde Center Offices at the Oakhurst Garden, 435 Oakview Road, Decatur, GA 30030 and must have a submission form attached to be included in the contest. Prizes will be awarded at the 2015 Earth Day Celebration at the Oakhurst Garden at 1:30pm on April 19. The Oakhurst Garden of the Wylde Center is located at 435 Oakview Road, Decatur, GA 30030. Call for Vendors
Vendor tables will be assigned to spaces on Oakview Road. We are recruiting organizations in the community whose mission may coincide with that of Earth Day Celebrants and who are concerned with environmental stewardship issues.  Application due by Friday, April 3rd, 5pm.  No exceptions. Please contact Gary Garrett, garrett@sseb.org for further information. This is a very popular event and the spots are likely to fill up fast!!!  

  • $20 for non-profits includes one table and two chairs
  • $50 for vendors selling items, includes one table and two chairs

Call for Food Vendors – Very Limited space.

  • $65 fee for food vendors includes one 6′ table and two chairs
  • Water is available from a hose.
  • Set up between 10am and 12:30pm.
  • Event it rain or shine, with the exception of thunder and lightening.
  • Copy of food service license required.

Call for Children’s Craft Providers
The DEDF is a family friendly event. Building upon tradition, local artists, organizations, camps, and schools provide free earth day crafts for participating children. Great way to promote your mission! Please plan on providing crafts for 75+ children. No vendor fee is necessary for those providing crafts for the children. Space is limited to 15 craft tables. Spaces are assigned. We ask that each organization provides a different earth friendly craft. The first organization who applies with a craft or activity idea has the privilege of providing chosen craft.  Contact neida@wyldecenter.org with questions. Deadline is April 3.
